Boeung Trabek Plaza began operating in 2011, inaugurated as a regional shopping centre during a launch event attended by the Kingdom's Minister of Commerce. Expansion began during 2014 to retain the heritage and attraction of open-air markets, with more than 500 wet market stalls now lining large cobblestone-paved promenades along St. 105 & St. 436 selling fresh fish, seafood, meats, fruits, spices and vegetables. Co-working offices, multi-story car/moto parking garages, seasonal Farmer’s Markets and lifestyle promotions provide vital employment and healthy growing marketplaces to Phnom Penh's growing urban population south of Monivong Blvd, steps from Toul Tom Poung.
The thriving wet markets lining the paved alleys and laneways around the Plaza were established by relocating hundreds of stalls from the former Boeung Trabek Market, which became the site of a USD $240 million commercial high-rise and condominium complex called Sino Plaza, known as China State Construction Engineering's first Belt and Road project abroad.
